Fry’s, You Don’t Know My Mom Very Well
I got an email from Fry’s Electronics today telling me they had all kinds of great Mother’s Day gifts. Turns out the last time Fry’s did any research on what mom’s want was during the middle ages.

I can’t wait until mom opens this years Mother’s Day present. Boy is she going to be excited when she gets an online RPG game version of Conan the Barbarian!

Bill Maher On iPhone Idiots, I Mean Owners
And when he says “dipshits”, he means Apple users. Because let’s be honest with ourselves, you are the only kind that are big enough douches to stand in line for a phone.
A Semi-Coherent Rant On Originality and Ethics On The Web
As a web developer and designer, I take a lot of pride in coming up with something innovative, attractive, and useful for my clients and users. I spent countless hours tweaking and perfecting even the smallest aspect of anything I do.
So you can understand that there’s nothing worse than browsing the web, only to find someone has blatantly ripped off your hard work. Not bits and pieces of it (which I have no problem with and actually encourage), but literally viewing your source code and copy and pasting the entire thing into their own website. With no mention of your name or linkback.
I’ve been developing websites, on one level or another, for close to 10 years. I’ve heard many stories of people getting their work copied and then passed off as another’s, but I’ve never had it happen to me…until today.
Microsoft…You Suck
I’m waiting until October to make the switch to Linux for good, but until then, I guess I will enjoy what time I have left on a Windows machine.
It always cheers me up when I get errors like this…
So you’re telling me that I got an error….when I was reporting an error???
RE: Apple tells you how to use your iPod to move music onto another computer.
So I just read an article on Digg entitled “Apple tells you how to use your iPod to move music onto another computer.” After the first couple paragraphs I stopped reading and looked over at my scroll bar. Holy crap! The way I figure, on a screen resolution at 1280X1024, the process takes roughly ten and a half pages to describe (see it here). I call bull on Steve Jobs, DRM and the RIAA.
I took it upon myself to simplify the process…

Much better…
Ted Stevens Strikes Again
It seems Mr. Stevens is at again.
If you recall, last year he introduced a bill called DOPA (Delete Online Predators Act).
*Note to self…find out how to delete people from the internet. I want to delete the bastard who keeps sending me emails trying to sell me V1@gr@. I’ve told him over and over again that I already have plenty. I wonder if it has to do with these mysterious tubes I keep hearing about? Hmm…
Oh sorry. Anyway. The bill stated that all schools would have to block any and all interactive websites. This included most notably, MySpace, Facebook and Digg. The bill went nowhere and died on the steps, just being a bill.
But don’t count the T-Train out quite yet…or is it T-Truck? Anyway…
Somehow out of the ashes, our lovable, idiotic, “I need a funny quote for my blog” punching bag, Ted Stevens, has risen once again.
A Rant About Viacom and Internet Video On YouTube
There’s a saying in the internet marketing realm. If you’re not on Google, you don’t exist. I believe this same saying goes for YouTube. If you have a video that’s not on YouTube, you may as well keep it in your sock drawer next to your “One Night In Paris” videotape.
Recently Viacom has told YouTube to take down all of their copyrighted videos, which was around 100,000+. This includes anything on MTV, Comedy Central, BET and VH-1. That means all those Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart videos, poof.
Let’s rewind real quick back to “Lazy Sunday” from SNL. No one gave a damn about SNL because they’ve not had anything funny in years. They were old, stale and as much fun as Tim Hardaway at a Gay Pride parade.
Spiral Frog: "Free" Music That Comes With a Hefty Pricetag
If you’ve heard about Spiral Frog, you are going to be sorely disappointed. If you haven’t heard of Spiral Frog, well, you are going to be sorely disappointed. It’s a service that will allow you to download free music in exchange for watching ads. Sounds great right? Here’s the real deal.
First of all, you have to watch 90 seconds of ads in order to download a song. Secondly, the music is DRM’ed to hell. It uses Windows FairPlay which means you can’t play it with your iPod, you can’t move it to another computer and you can’t burn it to cd. That’s a lot of “cant’s” when you’re talking about digital files. Finally, you have to go back to the site and watch “x” amount of ads or “you’re” music will stop working…what?
Don’t Imitate What You Don’t Understand
Picture this…
You stay home from work one day because you aren’t feeling well. You’re lying on the couch taking a nap and your cell phone beeps. It’s a text message. From who? Your boss, telling you you’re fired.
This scenario was real life for a 21 year old sales assistant at Blue Banana, a body-piercing and jewellery shop in London. The text message simply said “We will not require your services anymore…Thank you for your time with us.” Wow. Who was the ball-less nut-job who thought that would be a good idea? Grow some kahunas you chump.
What’s even more disturbing is the statement by store director, Ian Besbie trying to defend the companies irrational and absurd decision to fire an employee by text message.
“We are a youth business and our staff are all part of the youth culture that uses SMS (text) messaging as a major means of communication.”
